G7 Declaration Puts Barkly Firmly on the Map
Last week’s G7 declaration on critical minerals is a significant development for Australian rare earths companies such as Barkly Rare Earths Limited (ASX:BAK) (‘Barkly’ or the ‘Company’).
On 17 June, the world’s leading advanced economies made it clear that secure, diversified rare earths supply chains are now a key strategic priority. Australia is one of the few jurisdictions capable of helping deliver them.
For Barkly shareholders, this is not just another policy statement. We are advancing the Barkly Project because the demand for magnet rare earths is growing, governments are taking supply security seriously, and credible Australian projects are becoming increasingly important in the global rare earths supply chain.
As buyers become more desperate for supply continuity, and policy support increasingly targets credible projects, Barkly’s focus is sharp: grow the resource, advance the technical work and build a credible Australian rare earths project.
Barkly is advancing its large, 100%-owned Australian rare earths project with immediate mobilisation for a 10,000 m resource expansion drilling programme.
Our message to shareholders is simple: stay engaged. The next phase is about execution — drilling, technical progress and strategic engagement — and shareholders can look forward to a resource update and further metallurgical advancement as that work progresses.
G7 Declaration
The G7 has set a target to reduce dependence on dominant rare earth suppliers to below 60% by 2030. This creates long-term, policy-backed demand for new supply, and improves the opportunity for viable projects to advance beyond exploration. The declaration also notes that €64 billion has already been mobilised into critical minerals projects in 2026, supported by governments, investors and industry with measures such as joint procurement, stockpiling and price stabilisation.
In the new rare earths landscape, jurisdiction matters as much as resource quality. Barkly is well positioned with its flagship rare earths project located in Australia: a trusted, transparent and strategically important critical minerals jurisdiction. The Barkly Project also gives the Company district-scale exposure, spanning approximately 5,030 km² of granted licences in the Northern Territory, an area larger than Luxembourg, and hosting an initial 40 Mt Inferred Mineral Resource.
